To the tunes of ‘Danger Zone’ from Topgun we took off from Grand Canyon Airport and headed towards the edge.
I was in one of the two front seats (well technically there are three front seats but I think the pilot’s seat is kind of already taken) so my view could not have been any better.
That moment when we crossed the rim and were suddenly soaring over the canyon was so amazing! I think we all just gasped for air and at least I know I instantly had goosebumps all over.
Seeing the canyon from that perspective was overwhelming and spectacular and it really emphasized exactly how grand the canyon is 😉
It also made it quite clear just how small the Colorado River is compared to the canyon which just made it even funnier that we had to wear a fanny pack with a lifevest in case of an emergency. I think I would have preferred a parachute over a lifevest..
But there was no emergency just a tour that was over all too soon. Before I knew it we were back at the airport..
